Central Warehouse went up in 1927 at the edge of North Albany. It’s an 11-storey concrete cold storage building with walls about three feet thick and a rail line running into its second floor. For decades its blank bulk greeted everyone coming into Albany on I-787. After years of vacancy, Albany County took it over, and demolition began in 2025. Taking down the structure itself is expected to start this winter.
